EKA BUILDING AS THE EMITTER OF THE ARTISTIC IDEA
The new EKA building is an emitter of thought and idea. The proposed academy is a space open for urban activity. It is attractive for the city and its citizens. The synergy of public activities and art in its very source helps the new ideas to spread. The building aims to be open and accessible. Its simplicity helps it to resist the time flow and changing fashions. It forms a new public square in the city - accesible through five gates/passages. The sizes of the glass blocks that define the outer skin of the building correspond to the neighbouring buildings and together with them create one dynamic composition. Playing with the building facade by pushing or pulling glass blocks enabled better daylight usage in the interior. The black cuboid hanging over the new EKA building makes a focal point in the urban space. Seen from different perspectives EKA stays in opposition to the vertical shapes of the buildings surrounding it.
