The Szczecinek Cemetery project is an urban and architectural concept for a new necropolis in Szczecinek, set in an open landscape
of approximately 11,2 ha. In a partly rural and partly park-like area four objects get the rank of a spatial dominant: three entrance gates
and the funeral home that is set on a hill and dominates over the cemetery with its symbolical light-tower. Pure, cubical forms
of the buildings, white walls and roofs contrasts well with the green masses of plants. Spacious, flat roofings over the entrances leading
to the chapel and to the cemetery become architectural motive, characteristic of this design. The main alleys have been emphasized by
double rows of trees, whereas stone walls of the columbaria create necessary divisions into smaller quarters. The orthogonal
partitions planted with beds of high grass, lawns and hedges remind the characteristics of the geographic region of Pomorze Zachodnie. |
